Health authorities denied recent media reports on umbilical cord
infectious disease outbreak at the Central Maternity Hospital #1.
“Four umbilical infection cases were registered on June 28. All of them were not caused by the hospital. We found it was mother-to-child cases,” said an official at the Ministry of Health. But the latest two suspicious cases might be caused by hospital’s hygienic regime, he said. Final conclusion of laboratory test would be available by next week. The hospital re-opened after being complete shut down for over four months of renovation project, in which the government has spent more than MNT2.1 billion. Earlier in January, four newborn babies died and dozens were infected with the highly fatal infectious disease outbreak because of substandard hygiene regime at the same place, that shut down the hospital. |
