Gov’t Begins Drive to Register Citizens Print E-mail

ImageRevised registration of citizens has launched nationwide, beginning from July 5.
Prime Minister S.Batbold and First Deputy Minister N.Altankhuyag opened the revised registration campaign at the Parliament House, by involving in the registration.

The revised registration carries out through 463 units or 132 khoroos of 331 soums of 21 provinces and 9 districts of Ulaanbaatar City.

The Government recently made a decision to organize the equal distribution of profits from natural resources in accordance with the Law on Human Development Fund, in close co-ordination with this revised registration of citizens.

“This revised registration of population should serve as a key fundament for the distribution of 10 percent of the Tavan Tolgoi Shares to the population” underlined Prime Minister Batbold in his speech at the inauguration ceremony.

“Perfection in registration linking the state and citizens is a main key to development. The revised registration will be bases to create ‘Integrated Registration System. The Revised Registration is of great importance in many fields including the equal, effective and rapid distribution of public services to population, the improvement of co-ordination between agencies and organizations, the protection of civil rights, the ensuring of national security and others”, he added.

The Parliament recently commissioned the Cabinet of Ministers to conduct a revised registration of population and build fundamental infrastructure and integrated database based on civil personal data’s to issue smart identification cards to citizens.

Citizens above the age of 16 must bring their identification cards and birth certificates to respective soums and khoroos and give finger prints, while parents and care-takers will be responsible for the registration of respective children under the age of 16.
