A total of 105 wildfires have occurred in the last two months, according to National Emergency Management Agency. Nationally, five forest and steppes fires are currently uncontained, although mostly in the northern half of the country’s aimags of Selenge, Khovsgol, Dornod, Darkhan-Uul, Zavkhan, Bulgan, and Khentii. Last week, a wildfire crossed the border from Russia through 783rd border landmark in Dadal soum, Khentii aimag. Local volunteers and border defense crews are struggling to get the fire under control before it moves too far into Mongolia territory. The fire closest to the capital city are in Nariin, Songinokhairkhan District, and Gachuurt, Bayanzurkh District, where fires raged last week. All were contained. |
