Last Monday, on November 26, Dayar Mongol, a nationalist movement, held a peaceful protest in the Freedom Square. The protesters wore blue swastikas on their hands and bore the flag, the portraits of Mongolia’s Twelve Great Ancient Khaans and their slogans were stuck to 12 different cars.
“To remind the public of the historical treatises of 12 Great Ancient Mongolian Khaans, we are organizing this protest. We should never forget that Mongolia was a powerful and great world empire. However, high ranking officials are corrupted and giving the land to the foreigners now. It should be mentioned that Mongolians are being beaten and yielded by foreigners who hire the Mongolians at lower wages. Let them do slave work in their own country. The ancestors of Mongolia did not sacrifice their lives to their enemy in order give the land to foreigners.
That’s why I wish Mongolians would learn and have good
examples from genius kings. Also they should follow the slogans of the
kings, regarded as superior for the Mongolian heritage. We wanted to
reawaken nationalistic views to the public through protest. The
swastika symbolizes peace, firm, forever and long life.” said
D.Gansuren, head of the Dayar Mongol movement. Additionally, in
Mongolia, the swastika-type of symbol is a traditional symbol known as the “has
temdeg” with four arms that revolve around the pole star
(altan hadaas or “Golden Nail”) like the four seasons. |
