Orkhon province celebrates National Script Day


Under the auspices of the President of Mongolia, the National Script Day was celebrated in Orkhon Province on May 26 and 27.
The Office of the Orkhon Province Governor, Education Department of Orkhon Province, Library of Orkhon Province, Script and Culture NGO, and Mongolian National Library jointly organized the National Script Day.
President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj issued Decree No. 155 to promote official use of traditional Mongolian script on July 6, 2010.
Residents of Orkhon Province pledged their support of the decree and organized the event to honor Mongolian script and heritage.
Mongol script, speed-reading and writing competitions were organized among students of secondary schools during the National Script Day and the winners were awarded.
Staff of the President of Mongolia, along with calligrapher D.Ganbaatar, were invited to the National Script Day to introduce the presidential decree on Mongol script.
An exhibition titled “Script of Eternal Sky” was organized under the auspices of President Ts.Elbegdorj in Ulaanbaatar. The exhibition have been previously organized in Selenge, Bayankhongor and Dundgovi Provinces since 2010.
