Kakuryu M.Anand becomes fourth Mongolian Sumo Grand Champion


Mongolian professional sumo wrestler, Ozeki (second highest rank) Kakuryu M.Anand won the spring tournament and was granted the title of Yokozuna, Grand Champion of Sumo, after winning his 14th victory on Sunday.
After winning the tournament, M.Anand fulfils the conditions to become the fourth Mongolian and 71st Yokozuna in Japan’s sumo history.
The spring tournament took place in Osaka.
Before the spring tournament began, the Japan Sumo Association promised to promote Kakuryu M.Anand to Yokozuna if he wins the tournament with 13 or more victories.
Kakuryu had a successful record of 14 victories and one defeat in the spring tournament.
On the last day, he beat Ozeki Kotoshogiku of Japan who had won bouts against Mongolian Yokozunas Hakuho M.Davaajargal and Harumafuji D.Byambadorj consecutively in the tournament.
