New school for 640 students opens in Baganuur District
A brand new two-story school for 640 children officially opened at Baganuur District on Saturday. The school was built for 3.5 billion MNT financed by a government initiative to improve public education. All furniture and tools for the school were purchased for 362,536 USD.
Beginning in the third quarter of this academic year, 343 elementary school students, 175 middle school students and 122 high school students started attending the school in morning and afternoon shifts.
The contractors utilized eco-friendly, energy-efficient technology in the construction of the school, and the building will experience less heat loss.
One of the special features of the school is that it fits the needs of physically challenged students. Its classrooms, restrooms, sports hall and main entrance do not have thresholds and designated ramp access is available.
As part of the initiative monitored by the World Bank, 171 kindergartens have been built in remote soums in Mongolia. Two more kindergartens and schools for 250 students each were built in Arvaikheer soum of Uvurkhangai Province and Murun soum of Khuvsgul Province, and another kindergarten for 100 kids was established at Mogod soum of Bulgan aimag.
