Residential town for 567 households opens near airport

Buyant Ukhaa-1 housing project’s first five apartments for 567 households officially opened on Monday in the 9th khoroo of Khan-Uul District near Chinggis Khaan international airport.
The town was built to supply reasonably priced apartments for people of average income. The project includes 28 nine-story buildings for 1,764 households in total, with heated underground garages for 425 cars, outdoor parking lots, playgrounds, parks, and service centers.
The opening ceremony was attended by high ranking officials such as Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag, Ulaanbaatar City Mayor E.Bat-Uul, Minister of Construction and Urban Development Ts.Bayarsaikhan and others.
During the opening ceremony, Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag said, “Mongolian companies, workers and leaders have successfully constructed a high quality residential town in a very short amount of time to support people of average income. This proves that there is nothing we cannot do if Mongolians unite under a single goal.”
Mayor E.Bat-Uul highlighted that the apartments offer a great environment for people of average income and young families.
Although the price of the apartments has not been finalized as of yet, officials said that sales will start next month. Officials estimate that the price will not be higher than 1.3 million MNT per square meter which is much lower than current real estate market rates.
The construction began on April 18, 2013, and the first batch of apartments are now ready after nine months. The remaining apartments for over 1,000 households will be operational by May this year, said project officials. Currently, interior design work for the apartments is being finalized, reported contractors.
Over 700 builders worked on the foundations of the buildings, while around 1,000 others are executing the interior and exterior designs of the residential town. The project only employed Mongolian builders to erect the apartments to support local employment.
National Development Corporation LLC, the official contractor of the project, was founded after uniting five local builders, namely Delta Construction LLC, BUTI LLC, ECC LLC, Ulaanbaatar Barilga LLC and Erelt Impex LLC. The construction team is comprised of over 200 professional and experienced engineers and 2,674 construction workers.
