73,445 babies born as of November


The National Statistical Office has released its monthly socioeconomic indicators for November.  According to the latest report, a total of 73,075 mothers gave birth this year.

This year, 73,445 babies were born.

The statistical office said that the number of mothers who gave birth in November increased by 4,748, or 6.9 percent, compared to November 2012, while the number of babies born this year increased by 4,827, or by seven percent, compared to last year.

The infant mortality rate declined by 1,033, or by 0.4 percent, since last year, while the mortality rate of children aged between one to five increased by 1,284, or two percent.
