Ulaanbaatar uses recycled waste for infrastructure development

New curbs segregating the first lane of roads have been built recently along Chinggis Avenue, Ikh Toiruu, East Central Intersection and West Central Intersection.

The Ulaanbaatar Citizen’s Representative Council issued a decree to build curbs separating the first lanes to allow only public transportation buses, trolleybuses, work buses, school buses, and official taxis to use them as part of a project to reduce traffic congestion.

The curb will segregate the first lane in roads with more than three lanes.

National recycler TChM LLC has been producing the new curbs, as well as pillars and manhole covers made from recycled plastic bags. The company noted that its products are eco-friendly, as the construction material made of recycled materials saves the use of three tons of cement, armature, gravel, wood or iron.

Ulaanbaatar administrative bodies are supporting national manufacturers to create job opportunities for residents and to adopt eco-friendly technology within the framework of budget policy. Furthermore, the state has been purchasing and using domestically manufactured products in development and maintenance projects, and arts and cultural events held in the city, reported city officials.
