U.Munkh-Erdene brings home bronze medal

Mongolian Honored Athlete U.Munkh-Erdene brought home a bronze medal from World Boxing Championship in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The Olympic bronze medalist competed in the men’s 64 kilogram category.

U.Munkh-Erdene was defeated by a Cuban boxer, Yasnier Lopez with the final score of 0:3 in a fight for the silver medal on Friday.

In his first bout for the fight for bronze, he received a bye, and won the following two bouts with 3:0 against boxer Aziz Bebitov of Turkmenistan. He was one of the top 8 boxers after defeated the Bulgarian boxer Airin Ismetov with  3:0.

U.Munkh-Erdene defeated the Uzbekistanian boxer Sanjarbek Rahmanov with the score of 2:1 and secured his bronze medal. From the Mongolian boxers who competed at the World Boxing Championship, only U.Munkh-Erdene received a medal.
