Mongolia prepares for the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations with Germany

The 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Mongolia and its European Union member “Third Neighbor”, the Federal Republic of Germany, is to be marked on January 31, 2014.

The relations between the two countries have been expanded to a wide range of social sectors, reaching a level of comprehensive partnership.

A working group responsible for organizing events around the 40th anniversary, is being led by the Foreign Affairs Minister of Mongolia, L.Bold.

The diplomatic relationship was officially established in 1974, however it is understood that bilateral relations began at the end of the 1920s, when Mongolian intellectuals began to study in Germany. As of today, over 30 thousand Mongolians have been educated in Germany.

Germany was the first western country to determine its directions of collaboration with Mongolia and acknowledge the basic principles of relations by signing a joint declaration on an outline of relations.
