Standing Committee on Economy discusses several issues

Chairman of the Standing Committee on the Economy B.Garamgaibaatar gave an update on the committee’s activities during the Spring Session of the Parliament. In the course of the plenary session term, the standing committee has convened 13 times.
According to the report, the Standing Committee on the Economy discussed around 40 issues during the Spring Session and submitted about 20 of them during its joint meetings with the Parliament. To date, the committee has gone through eight laws and four resolutions, brought into discussion three international contracts and agreements, as well as decided on the issues regarding 18 of the draft bills.
During the 2013 Spring Session of the Parliament, the Standing Committee on the Economy has submitted laws on approving the securities and minerals markets, as well as parliamentary resolutions on approved guidelines to develop Mongolia’s economy and society in 2014.
Within the framework of supervision and the system of checks and balances, committee officials got acquainted with the operations of companies drilling for oil deposits in Dornod Province, a cement and chalk factory, and Erdenet Mining Corporation. They also got introduced to the relevant projects, procedure of activities, and implementation of other laws, as reflected in the guidelines to develop the Mongolian economy and society in 2012.
