Gender is not only women’s issue

Prime Minister N.Altankhuyag conducted a meeting with the authorities of international donor organizations in Mongolia to talk about the implementation of the law on promoting gender equality, and to shed views on the outcomes of the documents about gender equality that were approved by the government. The Ambassador of Canada to Mongolia; officials of the World Bank, Asian Development Bank, United Nations Population Fund, Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation, Australian Agency for International Development, and the Canadian International Development Agency; as well as specialists on gender issues were present at the meeting.

The government of Mongolia discussed the issues of gender equality and has adopted the mid-term strategic plan on its promotion which will be followed during the forthcoming four years. “We support international donor organizations in implementing this program, with the help and participation of the relevant authorities. Majority deem that gender is an issue related only to women. But gender also refers to men. The attitude of the government towards gender issues has become pro-active and objective,” said the Prime Minister during the meeting.
