Erchim FC enters finals of AFC President’s Cup

Erchim FC (Football Club) of Mongolia secured a place in the finals of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) President’s Cup on May 11. The team competed in Group A of the AFC President’s Cup Qualifiers along with FCs Taiwan Power of Taiwan, Three Star of Nepal, and Dhaka Abahani of Bangladesh from May 6 to 12 in Nepal.
Erchim had a 0:0 tie with Taiwan Power in their first match and won over Three Stars with 2:0 in the second match. They won over Dhaka Abahani with 1:0 and, therefore, won the right to advance to the finals. Midfielder of the Mongolian team G.Batbilguun scored the winning goal at the 59th minute of the match.
The AFC President’s Cup is an annual international football competition between domestic clubs from Asian countries and it is run by the AFC. The final stage of the AFC President’s Cup will take place from September 23 to 29. Qualified FC teams playing in the finals are as follows; Dordoi Bishkek of Kyrgyzstan, Three Star of Nepal, KRL of Pakistan, Hilal Al-Quds of Palestine, and Balkan of Turkmenistan.
The six teams will be drawn into two groups of three after the completion of the group stage. Each group is played on a single round-robin basis, with the same ranking rules as the group stage. The winners of each group advance to the final. The final is played as a single match, with extra time and penalty shoot-out used to decide the winner if necessary.
