A one-month campaign to support the disabled, titled “Let’s Make Participation Practical,” concluded this week. The campaign, held in Bayangol District, was organized by the Ministry of Population Development and Social Protection (MPDSP).

The one-month campaign was part of the national program, “Development and Protection Policy and Reform for the Disabled.”

The campaign included numerous events, including exhibitions of handicraft items produced by disabled citizens. The exhibitions displayed items created by over 150 disabled people living in 23 khoroos in Bayangol District, and attracted some 5,000 visitors.

Another event was a workshop titled “Enrolling disabled children in un-segregated general education school,” which focused on how to ensure up to 2 percent of primary school enrollment remains open to disabled children.

A further event held as part of the campaign was a competition to develop projects to support employment of the disabled. Ten of the selected projects will be financed. The competition was sponsored by the Bayangol District Governor’s Office and the Bayangol District Labour Division.

In addition, district administrators provided health and food assistance to 184 disabled citizens who struggle with an 80 percent incapacity for labor.

As part of the campaign, Bayangol District Governor, D.Orosoo, signed a cooperation agreement with the head of the Federation of Mongolian Physically Challenged People, Ts.Munkhsaruul.

To close the campaign, a “Session of Physically Challenged Residents in Bayangol District” was held at the Central Palace of Culture. The session included around 800 people, including the Minister of the MPDSP, S.Erdene; the Bayangol District Governor, D.Orosoo; his Deputy, G.Enkhbold; and P.Ganbat , of the Social Development Division of the district office.
