Local administrators being trained and more development projects on the horizon


A workshop, conducted by the Government of Mongolia to train local administration officials, was launched yesterday at the State Palace. All government ministers attended the event and gave related information to local governors and to Khural, the citizens’ representative council. The Prime Minister of Mongolia, N.Altankhuyag,  gave the opening remarks.

On another matter, the construction work of several government projects have started with the arrival of Spring. In 2012, a total of 2,947 paved roads were built and nine provinces were connected with Ulaanbaatar.  In fact, during the above workshop, the Minister of Roads and Transportation, A.Gansukh, mentioned that 724 billion MNT have been spent on the road sector in the last four years. He added that the Government of Reform has initiated the plan to connect 12 provinces with the capital city by 2016 and, in 2013, another plan will be implemented to connect six more provinces with Ulaanbaatar.  Furthermore, he gave information on projects that are being implemented in the railway sector and emphasized that the Mongolian airline company MIAT was already granted the National Flag Carrier Status.

Later on, the Minister of Agriculture, Kh.Battulga, gave a speech to the workshop attendees. He said that he is working to implement 83 plans and projects in the sectors of heavy industry and agriculture. For instance, he is paying a lot more attention to building a metallurgy complex with modern equipment and facilities at the “Sainshand” industrial complex and Darkhan-Selenge regional iron ore mines, which will process mineral resources such as iron ore, coal, and copper.
