Mongolian scientist receives ‘Early Career Women Scientist’ Award

Mongolian scientist N.Erdenechimeg received one of the 2013 Elsevier Foundation Awards for Early Career Women Scientists in the Developing World for research excellence in medicine and life sciences. The prizes were awarded by The Elsevier Foundation; the Organization for Women in Science for the Developing World (OWSD); and TWAS, the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (Third World Academy of Sciences) to build research capacity and advance scientific knowledge throughout the developing world.

The awards were granted to N.Erdenechimeg and four other regional winners (Sub-Saharan Africa, Central and South Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean, and Middle East and North Africa) on February 16 in Boston at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS).

Dr. N.Erdenechimeg is a biochemistry researcher of the Institute of Chemistry and Chemical Technology, Mongolian Academy of Sciences and she studies catalytic antibodies which have been detected recently in the sera of patients and animals with many autoimmune diseases. The other scientists are from Bangladesh, Peru, Nigeria, and Yemen.
