G.Boldbaatar takes gold from Düsseldorf Judo Grand Prix

Mongolian judoka G.Boldbaatar took the gold medal in the men’s 60-kg category of the IJF (International Judo Federation) Grand Prix which was held in Düsseldorf, Germany on February 23 on the first day of the competition.

According to the official IJF website, the final of the men’s 60-kg had G.Boldbaatar compete with Diego Santos of Brazil. After a few seconds, Santos was penalized for the first time by shido (defensive position), with both fighters being again penalized for their defensive attitudes later during the fight. One minute before the end of the final, Santos was penalized for the third time, enough for the Mongolian judoka to win the gold medal.

The other Mongolian judoka who competed on this day was S.Miyaragchaa and he took fifth in the men’s 66-kg category. Over 435 judokas from 50 countries competed in the Düsseldorf Grand Prix this year.
