Draft bill on the legal situation of National Park discussed

The Office of the President hosted the discussion of the draft bill on the legal situation of National Park at Citizen’s Hall.

The discussion was attended by over a hundred officials including the advisor to the President of Mongolia, E.Zorigt; the deputy governor of the capital city, T.Bat-Erdene; high-ranking officials of the Green Development Ministry; the Chief of Staff of the Armed forces of Mongolia, General T.Khurelbaatar; the general engineer of Ulaanbaatar Water Supply and Sewerage Authority, B.Baatarkhuyag; representatives of NGOs; and concerned citizens.

The advisor to the President, L.Erhembayar, opened the discussion and said, “In the territory of Bayanzurkh District, the National Park will be created and will cover 960 hectares of land and water resources located along the banks of Tuul River. The main purpose of that draft bill is to intensify the creation of the National Park, create the legal protection of the territory, define the type of the prohibited operations in the area, resolve the financing issue of the project, and conserve the drinking water resources of the citizens.”

The governor of Ulaanbaatar released the regulation to approve the land and build the National Park in the territory of Bayanzurkh District, from Marshall Bridge to Bayanzurkh Bridge. Unfortunately, 7.6 hectares of land was granted to six private entities in six locations from the land devoted to the National Park. Several inappropriate acts have also been discovered such as the total area of the National Park was reduced from the planned 1,280 to only 960 hectares through a resolution of the capital city’s  representative Khural.
