The President meets General Director SDC

The General Director of the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) Martin Dahinden called on the President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj on August 3rd. The President mentioned that Mongolia held its Parliamentary Elections in June and now politicians are paying much more attention in forming the structure of the Parliament. He also added that he was hoping that the new Government would be formed by the end of August.
“This was his first visit to Mongolia,” noted the SDC General Director, Martin Dahinden,who expressed his delight on being able to travel across the Mongolian countryside and get acquainted with operations of some districts of Ulaanbaatar city. In 2011, the President Ts.Elbegdorj paid a visit to Switzerland to SDC, where he met with its General Director, Martin Dahinden in person and invited him to visit Mongolia to share Swiss experience and achievements in civilians’ participation and to discuss joint projects and programs. The SDC warmly accepted our President’s request and from July 2012 they have started implementing the Direct Democracy project with a total funding of 6 million Euros. The Direct Democracy project, which aims at supporting citizens’ participation in decentralization, will be carried out over the course of three years.
