ACM joins the Smart Water campaign for World Water Day


The Arts Council of Mongolia (ACM) is taking part in the Smart Water campaign from March 19 to April 19, with support from the Embassy of the, United States in Mongolia to build awareness of water scarcity in Ulaanbaatar, and to encourage smart water consumption and the protection of the environment for World Water Day.
The Smart Water campaign will bring together water experts and artists to develop innovative and smart ways to raise public awareness of Mongolia’s water concerns through the presentation of sculpture, public discussions, and film screenings.
Columbia University alumn Yo.Tuguldur and sculptor Ts.Batmunkh will create an ice sculpture for display at Chinggis Square on World Water Day, March 22, at 12:00 p.m.
Water and environmental experts from the Ulaanbaatar Environmental and Natural Resources Department and National Water Supply Center will organize a discussion on water consumption during the Smart Water campaign, with a date to be announced.
The documentary “A Thirsty World” by Thierry Piantanida and Baptiste Rouget-Luchaire will be screened at Urgoo Cinema-2 on March 22. The Smart Water film programming will continue with the screening of “Chasing Ice”, a documentary by Jeff Orlowski, on March 24 at Gegeenten Cinema, and “The Revolutionary Optimists” by filmmaker Nicole Newham at Tengis Cinema on March 26. All films will be screened free of charge.
