Mongolia and Belarus look to boost cooperation

Last Friday, Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg met with Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko, who paid an official visit to Mongolia from March 16 to 19 at the invitation of his Mongolian counterpart, Ts.Oyunbaatar, to discuss possibilities for strengthening relations and cooperation between the two countries.
Beginning the meeting, Semashko thanked the PM for the reception. Semashko underlined that there are great possibilities for developing and strengthening mutual cooperation between the two countries. He presented the PM with proposals for sectors that have great potential for mutually beneficial results.
Prime Minister Ch.Saikhanbileg supported the Belarusian Deputy Prime Minister’s initiatives, and said that Mongolia is interested in landscaping equipment from Belarus, intercity buses, heavy machinery, high-quality wheat, and fertilizer. Ch.Saikhanbileg noted that the two countries have great potential for collaborating in the pharmaceutical industry, satellite manufacturing, and in the defense and construction sectors. He underlined that relations between the development banks of the two states have a significant role in implementing and resolving cooperation issues.
At the end of the meeting, Ch.Saikhanbileg thanked the Belarusian Deputy PM and his delegates for visiting Mongolia and conducting meetings and negotiations. He also asked Semashko to deliver his greetings to his Belarusian counterpart, Andrei Kobyakov.
During his visit, Semashko met with Roads and Transportation Minister M.Zorigt, Construction and Urban Development Minister Z.Bayanselenge, and Food and Agriculture Minister R.Burmaa and exchanged views on cooperation possibilities. He was also received by Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul and Foreign Affairs Minister L.Purevsuren. The parties shared opinions on relations between the two countries.
