Mongolia celebrates World Consumer Rights Day at Chinggis Square

World Consumer Rights Day, observed on March 15, is an annual occasion for celebration and solidarity within the international consumer movement. Mongolia has been celebrating World Consumer Rights Day since 2012.
The Government of Mongolia announced 2016 as the Year of the Consumer, and the Vice Minister of Mongolia organized World Consumer Rights Day at Chinggis Square in cooperation with the Authority for Fair Competition and Consumer Protection, General Authority for Specialized Inspection, Mongolian Agency for Standardization and Metrology, National Emergency Management Agency, and Government Procurement Agency of Mongolia.
On World Consumer Rights Day state-owned organizations and NGOs gave free advice to visitors gathered at Chinggis Square. Residents were also introduced to organized activities concerning consumer safety.
City residents were lined up outside the World Consumer Rights Day booths of the General Authority for Specialized Inspection and Energy Regulatory Committee to complain about prices for food, consumer safety, and electricity bill prices.
