Military marching bands to perform on Thursday

The Ministry of Defense and General Staff of the Armed Forces are organizing a musical parade on March 17 to commemorate Soldiers’ Day and the 95th anniversary of the Mongolian Armed Forces.
The wind ensemble of the General Staff of the Armed Forces and several marching bands from other military units, the Defense University of Mongolia, Temuujin Urlug secondary schools, the National Emergency Management Agency, and General Authority of Border Protection will start marching from five locations around Ulaanbaatar at 5:00 p.m. to convene for a performance at Chinggis Square.
At Chinggis Square, government officials and representatives from the military organizations, including the Ministry of Defense, National Emergency Management Agency, and General Authority of Border Protection, will lay flowers before the statue of the first General of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Army, D.Sukhbaatar, and pay honor to the statue of Chinggis Khaan.
Mongolia celebrates Soldiers’ Day on March 18 as an annual holiday dedicated to soldiers and military personnel, as well as a celebration for men. The date was chosen as it is the day when Commander-in-Chief of the Mongolian People’s Partisans D.Sukhbaatar led a guerrilla army to secure the land and territory of the Mongolian Peoples’ Republic from Chinese troops. The Mongolian People’s Army was also established on March 18, in 1921.
