Moon Dance, a Mongolian ballroom dance team, successfully took part in the World Dance Sport Federation’s (WDSF) World Latin Championship, held in Vienna, Austria, on December 12.
A total of 20 teams from 11 countries competed in the championship. In the first round, Moon Dance was selected as one of the top 12 teams. In the semi-final, the team was ranked seventh after collecting 32 points out of a possible 40 points. It represented the greatest achievement for a Mongolian dance team in an international competition.
Two teams, Star Dance and Moon Dance, represented Mongolia in Vienna. Mongolia was the only country from Asia to participate in the championship this year. Star Dance came in 15th place.
A dance team from Germany won the gold medal, followed by two Russian teams.
Director of Moon Dance Club O.Sarankhuu said, “It has been three years, since Moon Dance Club was established. The Moon Dance team won the National Dancing Championship in 2014, and came in second place at the 2015 National Dancing Championship. That’s why Moon Dance competed in the World Championship.”
