Mongolia claims 26 medals at World Memory Championship


Twenty Mongolian mind sports athletes won a total of 26 medals at the 24th World Memory Championships, which took place in Chengdu, China, from December 16 to 18.
Mongolian memory athletes have smashed world records in five categories at the event. Grandmaster G.Tsogbadrakh broke the world record in the speed numbers category in the adult division, Z.Tsetsegzul broke the binary digits world record in the junior division, Grandmaster E.Purevjav broke the speed numbers and hour cards records in the junior division, and J.Dulguun shattered the random words world record in the children’s division.
Two memory athletes competed in the adult division from Mongolia, and Grandmaster S.Tsogbadrakh won gold and silver medals.
A total of 13 Mongolian athletes competed in the junior age category and won 22 medals out of a possible 30 medals.
Grandmaster E.Purevjav became world champion in the junior division, after collecting 6,404 points. He was followed by 2014 world champion of Mongolia E.Enkhmunkh and Asian champion Z.Tsetsegzul.
Grandmaster E.Purevjav and E.Enkhmunkh qualified for the biggest title of the competition, International Grand Master of Memory, and were selected as one of the Top 10 athletes.
B.Shijir-Erdene qualified for the Grandmaster of Memory title, and T.Enkhjin, N.Tuvshintugs, B.Ariunsanaa, B.Khangai, E.Yalguun and A.Nomin qualified for the International Master of Memory title.
Athletes from the Mongolian Intellectual Academy competed in 10 different categories at the championships: names and faces, binary digits, hour numbers, abstract images, historic dates, speed numbers, hour cards, random words, spoken numbers, and speed cards.
The 24th World Memory Championships was attended by 278 memory athletes from 25 countries.
