Travel through the heart of Mongolia

By M.OYUNGEREL

“Khentii- The Heart of Mongolia”, a group photography exhibition, is on view at Blue Moon Art Gallery until November 30.
The exhibition consists of photographs taken in various regions of Khentii Province by 11 photographers. The aim of the exhibition is to promote tourism in Khentii Province. The name refers to Khentii Province as the heart of Mongolia, as it is the birthplace of Chinggis Khaan.
The exhibition consists mainly of landscapes and historic monuments, with a few domestic moments captured. The natural formations of rocks, as well as monumental sculptures like the Deer Statue were captured. Among the photographs taken in households, I saw two photos by N.Sukhbat that read “Batnorov soum, Batnorov Made”. The photographs of saddles and belts show that Batnorov has already become a destination for design with the distinctive patterns used by the region’s craftsmen.
Landscapes by G.Bayanselenge and D.Oktyabri captured harsh light beautifully. My most favorite photograph was “Stars”, taken at Chingisin Ulgii tourist camp in Khentii Province by N.Tsolmon. The still imagery of gers under the starry night looked truly remarkable.
After seeing the exhibition, I wanted to abandon my city life and move to Dadal soum, Khentii Province. The geological structure of the lakes, inlets, and mountains were just awe-inspiring. “Agatsiin Tokhoit”, taken by G.Bayasgalantugs in Dadal soum, looked like a documentary picture from the Nile River, further evidence of the beauty of the province.
You are sure to enjoy this visual journey through Khentii Province, whether you have been there or not.
