‘Color of the Mind’

“Color of the Mind”, a joint exhibition by E.Amarzaya and O.Zolbootuguldur, will be on view until August 30, at Blue Moon Art Gallery.
O.Zolbootuguldur and E.Amarzaya collaborated to present Mongolian culture in their own ways. There are lots of paintings and work with gers and excerpts of nomadic culture, including a representation of the felt foxes that Mongolian fathers make as dream catchers for their children, with the creature of fables carrying the weight of a sleepy neighborhood on its back. The works are mainly created in gouache and leather.
O.Zolbootuguldur is renowned for her traditional magical realism, while E.Amarzaya is known for her creative and distinctive work. E.Amarzaya created pieces with wood and leather with a multi-dimensional effect that helps the viewer focus on the importance of the subjects. The works in “Color of the Mind” are modern paintings infused with traditional elements. “The Mongolian Klimt” by E.Amarzaya has the same characteristics of the original “Kiss” by Klimt, but the subjects are wearing Mongolian apparel. It was a careful approach to a classic, but with a more traditional outlook.
Some of artists O.Zolbootuguldur’s pieces have already been shown before, namely work celebrating her new baby. The rest of the work is also meaningful and beautiful. “The Forgotten Music” was my most favorite work by the artist. In the painting flutes and saxophones are all caged with the sun and the moon. As much as jazz is a dying art, the artist wanted to show that our generation doesn’t sing about the moon and the stars but rather alcohol and women, which is why the sun and the moon are in a cage.
Visit the exhibition for a close look at the amazing techniques and content concerning Mongolian culture.
