Return to childhood with ‘Happy Family’

Artist Undraa is displaying her “Happy Family” exhibition on the second floor of Central Tower, until August 21.
Undraa graduated from the School of Fine Arts at Mongolian University of Culture and Arts in 2000. She has participated in over 30 international group exhibitions.
The artist tries to depict Mongolian traditions in bright colors. “I want to portray everything that is Mongolian in my work. My dad was a sculptor and painter. I fell in love with the act of creating, and just art and traditions in general,” she said. Mongolian fables told to children, such as the “Harmonious Four Animals”, and Mongolian clothing are existent in all of her work.
The paintings could easily be mistaken for those of a children’s book, because of the smiles and the colors they are painted in. The name Undraa translates to “effusion”, so she explains, “Any work that effused from Undraa’s world will make you feel light, happiness, and heaven.”
In Mongolian, there’s a children’s song called “A Train to Take You Back to Childhood”. The exhibition takes viewers on the same journey, as its subjects are so happy and shared with an innocence that only children can easily express. Such innocence and joy being portrayed by an adult is truly inspiring.
Visit the exhibition if you want to travel back to your childhood, or experience the childhood world of Mongolians.
