On the occasion of the 25th anniversary of Mongolia’s first democratic election, Mayor of Ulaanbaatar E.Bat-Uul presented the Star of Fame to the seven members of Soyol-Erdene, one of Mongolia’s first rock bands, yesterday.
Soyol-Erdene also received a golden cup named after democratic revolution singer S.Tsogtsaikan and 100 million MNT.
Representative of the City Council G.Gankhuu noted that the 100 million MNT came from the Khonkh (Bell) Club.
Mayor E.Bat-Uul said, “Rock and pop made a lot of contributions to announcing freedom and democracy. That’s why we are paying the band this honor.”
Head of the Cultural Department of Ulaanbaatar B.Battsengel said, “We will open the Star of Fame podium to glorify artists and bands who have made valuable contributions to the world of rock and pop of Mongolia. We know the Hollywood Walk of Fame. It is not proper to put a Star of Fame on the ground, that is why we will mount the Stars of Fame on podiums. Designed by a professional sculptor, we will use a diamond instead of a star.”
The presentation ceremony for the Star of Fame will be held on July 30 of every year.
