Baganuur District hospital opens ‘friendly’ treatment room

Rotaract Club of Nairamdal (RCN) completed an upgrade project at the children’s medical treatment room of Baganuur District Health Center (BDHC) and reopened it on Monday.
BDHC’s vice director, A.Ochirsuren, talked about the project results, “Our upgraded room has acquired a new and international standard floor suitable for hospital use. The flooring material is specifically designed to protect against bacteria, while the walls of the room were painted with a non-toxic paint.”

Doctors highlighted that young children needed more care and attention while medical treatments are underway. “We hope that the new murals and other decorations in the room will help the young patients get distracted from possible pain and react calmly when the medical staff needs them to,” added A.Ochirsuren.
The room’s newly painted walls are warmer in color, and lively and bright paintings of monkeys, birds, clovers, and heart-shaped leaves are painted on the walls.
Private businesses in Baganuur District also showed their support for the project and supplied free windows and flooring for the room, according to A.Ochirsuren.
It was the Rotaract Club of Nairamdal’s sixth upgrade project redesigning a children’s treatment room so far. The club used to raise funds for the upgrade projects in previous years, but the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation started financing the upgrade projects this year.
Their previous project took place at Khan-Uul District Health Center, and the upgraded room opened on July 9. Bayanzurkh and Nalaikh district health centers had their rooms upgraded in 2014.
The club is planning to carry out the project at several more hospitals in 2015. The list includes the post-op treatment room of the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the treatment rooms of Chinggeltei, Songinokhairkhan, and Sukhbaatar district health centers, as well as the playroom at the Bagakhangai District Health Center.
