70 million MNT bridge fountain opens

The Ulaanbaatar City Mayor’s Office (UCMO) opened Mongolia’s first bridge fountain at Arslantai Guur (Lion Bridge) on Thursday.

The bridge fountain set up was completed before Naadam as part of the office’s upgrade projects for the holiday celebration.

The UCMO hopes that the bridge fountain will reduce loose dust around the area and improve the facade of the city.

The fountain draws its water directly from Selbe River, which runs below the bridge. Officials warned that the water coming out of it might become dirty after rain as no filtration system has been installed for the bridge fountain.

The Ulaanbaatar Incorporated Public Service Authority will maintain the fountain. The executor of the project gave a three year guarantee. The UCMO promised to constantly upgrade and maintain the fountain.

Ulaanbaatar’s General Manager and Chairman of the UCMO B.Badral said during the opening that two more bridge fountains will be built at Marshal and Dund Gol bridges in Khan-Uul District.

The fountain will flow from 8:00 a.m. until 11:00 p.m. every day.
