Pop art illustration in Mongolia

Artist M. Temuujin is releasing the first-ever pop art illustration exhibition in Mongolia. The exhibition, his first solo endeavor, will be presented from June 21 until June 27, at Sant-Asar Chillhouse, south of Store no.50.
Temuujin graduated from Rajhiv Gandhi Polytechnic College of Production and Arts in ceramics in 2010. He majored as an ironsmith in 2011 at Altai State Institute of Arts and Culture. He then graduated from Krasnoyarsk School of Fine Arts as a painter and sculptor in 2013.
The illustration work is presented as digital prints. “I liked and decided to create pop art because the digital artists I am inspired by drew illustrations that were never limited to one idea or theme. The colors and visualization were dynamic. It was a style that felt like my own.”
“I think an artist should not limit himself or herself to one form of painting and coloring, because that would limit the mind and make a boxed, boring perspective,” he added.
He draws his inspiration from Pepsi bottles, jellyfish, old buildings, close people, and the work of other artists. He says, “The main thing is to be open-minded and receive everything with an open heart.”
The way he infused traditional elements, such as the khangarid hairstyle, with pop art elements was truly remarkable, in my opinion.
“Not being limited is an indispensable part of always seeking the new,” he says. In the future, the artist plans to create art in many different forms, not only limited to pop art. He’s planning another exhibition in the fall that includes installation, performance, sculpture and digital art.
Go see his exhibition before June 27, and join the artist for a bubble performance at 9:00 a.m. on June 26, at Sant-Asar Chillhouse.
