Truck crashes in road collapse

A road behind Dragon Bus Terminal collapsed at around 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, when a heavy-duty truck was passing.
The truck was carrying 40 tons of wheat when the accident occurred. It flipped over, but the driver didn’t receive any major injuries, according to Songinokhairkhan District Police Department.
“The driver went to see a doctor by himself and the doctors confirmed that his health was normal. There was no one else in the truck,” said J.Bolorsuren, Songinokhairkhan District Mayor.
Songinokhairkhan and Traffic Police Departments are currently investigating the case. The cause of the collapse hasn’t been determined yet. Whether the truck was  carrying a permitted amount of wheat is being investigated.
A 16-story apartment building is under construction next to the road and it caused a gradual landslide in the area, according to initial reports. The district prohibited heavy duty trucks on the road because of the landslide, but the truck driver reportedly ignored the temporary order.
Residents of the neighborhood said, “The space where the construction is ongoing was previously a playground and a skating rink. But Khadan Us LLC acquired a construction license, despite the residents’ protests and demands to the district’s mayor.”
