Mongolia to host Asian University Basketball Championship


The executive committee meeting of the Asian University Sports Federation (AUSF) took place in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia from May 22 to 25 for the first time.
Directors and sports’ representatives, including President of the University Sports Federation of the United Arab Emirates Omar Al Hai, executive committee member at FISU and AUSF, and Olympic champion Hisato Igarashi, President of Student Sports Federation of Kazakhstan and Kazakh Academy of Sport and Tourism Kairat Zakiryanov attended the meeting.
During the meeting, Mongolia proposed to host the 2016 Asian University Basketball Championship at the National Basketball Palace, which opened recently in Khandgait.
Taiwan also bid to host the 2016 Asian University Basketball Championship. The National Basketball Palace of Mongolia was introduced to the delegates. Voting took place among delegates and Mongolia won the right to host the tournament.
More than 40 delegates from China, the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Mongolia, Iran, Japan, Thailand, Kazakhstan, and Malaysia attended the meeting.
