More organizations join campaign to help wildfire victims


Donations worth 28.5 million MNT were sent to Sukhbaatar Province on Wednesday, immediately after emergency management officials finished collecting donation goods.
Bayars Construction LLC donated five new gers and JAH LLC gave 1,500 pairs of gloves. Female Diplomats Club of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave financial aid, while the Democracy Justice Youth Union of the Mongolian People’s Revolutionary Party sent fire-proof blankets, burn creams, sprays and bandages worth 10 million MNT, jointly with the Mongolian Women’s Association.
Delegates of the organizations handed over their donations to Kh.Batbileg, Chief of the State Reserve and Humanitarian Aid of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA).
“All these donations will help victims very much. I thank everyone who joined the campaign. We will deliver the donations to the intended as soon as possible. Also, we have received a call today (Wednesday) from several national producers and they promised to donate 53.5 million MNT worth of food products to the victims,” said Kh.Batbileg.
Trucks with donations for regions affected by wildfire are setting off from Ulaanbaatar every day, and more private and public businesses have been joining the campaign.
Among wildfire victims, those living in Sukhbaatar Province are in most critical condition, according to the NEMA.
Officials gave an update about the current condition of the wildfire.
“We are cleaning winter quarters that could potentially catch fire at wildfire focus areas,” they said.
Update on Ministry of Food and Industry’s campaign for wildfire aid

Delegates of the Ministry of Food and Industry (MFI) headed to wildfire zones Mongolia’s eastern region on Wednesday with financial aid and food products valued at 50 million MNT.
The ministry collected the donations from food organizations in Ulaanbaatar. The donations include food products worth 22.4 million MNT, hay and fodder worth 5.2 million MNT, medication for livestock worth 4.7 million MNT and a 17.7 million MNT financial aid.
Staff of the MFI and agencies working for the ministry said they will donate one day of their earning to the victims of wildfire.
More than 30 national food producers, such as Uguuj, Tengeriin Khishig, Green City, Max Market, Ulaanbaatar Guril and Vitafit, were listed among the donators to the campaign.
Asian Development Bank’s project coordinators in Mongolia also donated 3.4 million MNT to the campaign to help soums hit by wildfire.

Government provides aid to wildfire victims and rescuers

The government decided to provide free gers to 44 families that lost their homes in the wildfire in Dornod, Khentii and Sukhbaatar Provinces, and nine UAZ vans to emergency officials working at wildfire focus areas.
An additional 730 tons of hay is to be sent to the three provinces.
A total of 470 million MNT was budgeted for required fuel for the vans and trucks that will deliver the gers and hay.
Six state-owned BMP infantry fighting vehicles will be used against the wildfire in three provinces, according to the NEMA.
Budget for fire fighting, prevention of livestock diseases, compensations, disposal of dead animals, sanitation of burnt areas and treatment of injured livestock was estimated to cost 842 million MNT, at the cabinet meeting on Tuesday.

Wildfire from Russia spreads to Mongolia

A wildfire in Russian territory crossed the border and spread to Norovlin and Dadal soums in Khentii Province a few days ago, and emergency officials are working to limit the spread and put out the fire with locals.
The Wildfire from Russia also reached Bayan-Uul and Dashbalbar soums in Dornod Province. Border guards, fire fighters and local residents are fighting the fire.
