N.Naranbaatar wins Grand Prix at White Month 2015

Vocalist of the State Philharmonic N.Naranbaatar participated in the White Month 2015 international pop song contest, which took place in Buryatia, Russia on March 12 and 13. He won the Grand Prix prize of the contest.

Pop song singers aged from 18 to 35 are eligible to attend the contest, which is organized once every two years.

 Below is a brief interview with N.Naranbaatar.

Congratulations on winning the Grand Prix prize. How many participants did you compete against?

I don’t know the exact number of participants. Singers from China, Russia, South Korea and Kazakhstan competed in the contest. Singers from the Republic of Khakassia and South Korea were the most powerful contestants. A female singer from Khakassia won first place, and a male singer from Tatarstan won second place.

What did you sing at the final stage?

I sang “Donjtoibusgui” rock & roll song, which was composed by Ts.Chuluunbat of Kharanga band. I want to express my gratitude to producers Ts.Chuluunbat, N.Khaliun, B.Naranzun and B.Dashdondog, who have always support me.

Were there any Mongolian judge?

Yes. There were seven judges in total. They were from Mongolia, South Korea and Buryatia. Mongolian producer B.Naranzung worked as a judge for the contest.

Singer T.Amina participated in the White Month 2013 and won first place. Which artists from Mongolia won awards from previous contests?

Mongolian pop divas B.Sarantuya, J.Altantsetseg and S.Serchmaa, singer B.Maraljingoo and E.Agiimaa, and Three Girls band participated in the contest before. But I don’t know which prizes they won. I am the only Mongolian to have won the Grand Prix prize from this contest.

What are you working on now?

I am working on my new album. Three songs for my album have been recorded in studio. My new album is expected to be released this fall. I am working with B.Naranzun and keyboardist of Niciton band A.Bolorkhuu.
