Mongolian calligraphy exhibition opens in Tokyo


The Japanese-Mongolian calligraphy exhibition “Sky, Sun and Partnership” opened at Itochu Aoyama Art Square on March 4.
The Mongolian Modern Calligraphers Association, Japanese-Mongolian Friendship Group of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party, and Japan-Mongolia Economic Committee have jointly organized the exhibition.
Chairman of the Japanese-Mongolian Friendship Group of the Japanese Liberal Democratic Party Motoo Hayashi and Satsuki Eda, member of Parliament of Mongolia D.Gankhuyag, and President of the Mongolian Modern Calligraphers Association G.Mend-Ooyo opened the exhibition and gave speeches.
Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe displayed his calligraphy at the exhibition and sent greeting cards and flowers for the opening.
In the greeting card, Shinzo Abe said, “Mongolia and Japan has the traditional culture of calligraphy in common, not only sumo. I hope this exhibition will promote the culture of both countries. Mongolia is an important and old friend of Japan. I paid an official visit to Mongolia on March 2014, and afterwards, President and Prime Minister of Mongolia visited Japan. This exhibition will strengthen cultural relations between our two countries.”
Over 90 calligraphies written by 30 officials, including President of Mongolia Ts.Elbegdorj, members of Parliament N.Altankhuyag, Ts.Oyungerel, L.Bold, D.Gankhuyag, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and his mother Yoko Abe, former PMs of Japan, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Fumio Kishida, Mongolian calligraphy masters D.Battumur, T.Jamiyansuren, D.Batbayar, L.Tuvshinjargal, D.Ganbaatar and Ts.Tamir, poet G.Mend-Ooyo, Japanese calligraphy masters Takaki, Enoki and Kobayashi, were displayed at the exhibition.
