E.Amartuvshin qualifies for final round of BBC singing competition


Mongolian soloist E.Amartuvshin participated in the BBC’s Cardiff Singer of the World competition, and has qualified to become one of the contest’s 20 finalists.
This year, more than 300 talented young singers from 55 countries applied to travel to Wales to represent their country. The 20 finalists were announced on February 24.
BBC Cardiff Singer of the World takes place every two years. The final round of the competition will take place from June 14 to 21. Twenty finalists will perform in front of a jury of distinguished opera experts and equally discerning experts in the final stage of competition.
E.Amartuvshin was born in Sukhbaatar Province and studied at the State University of Arts and Culture. He has won several awards, including second prize and the audience prize at the 2011 International Tchaikovsky Competition, tied for first prize at Operalia 2012, and second prize and two special prizes at the International Singing Contest Francisco Vinas in 2013.
He is the principal soloist of the State Academic Theater of Opera and Ballet of Mongolia and was named a State Honored Artist at the age of 24.
He has appeared internationally as Vedenetsky guest Sadko in Krasnoyarsk, and as Count Monterone Rigoletto at Palau de les Arts Reina Sofia, Valencia, both in 2012. Also, he has sung in gala concerts throughout the world, including Paris, Moscow, New York, Beijing, Seoul, and Singapore.
