Centralized auto trade complex ready for construction

Groundreaking ceremony underway to launch Auto Trade Complex construction

Groundbreaking ceremony of the auto trade complex took place on Wednesday in Songinokhairkhan District with hopes to speed up central area traffic flow of Ulaanbaatar and offer centralized auto trade facilities to residents.
The traders that will operate businesses in the complex funded the parking lots and constructions, with the complex set to open on October 1.
Once the complex launches, all 34 open auto markets in Ulaanbaatar will be prohibited from selling cars in the city.
The reason for the relocation of auto markets to the complex, 20 kilometers away from the city center, was also due to environmental concerns, said officials. Motor oil and fuel are one of the key air, water and soil pollutants, according to complex organizers.
However, the complex is located only one km from Tuul River and Songinokhairkhan District Governor M.Chinbold explained that experts have assured the auto sales in the complex will not affect its surrounding area, following an environmental study.
“The complex area will be completely paved so soil and water underground will not be polluted,” claimed the governor.
The land on which the complex will be built is within the protected area of river basins. Governor M.Chinbold, however, noted, “The construction is starting according to the general urban plan of the Ulaanbaatar City Governor and City Council. Around 80 percent of the neighborhood residents approved the construction in a survey before the construction began.”
